Leonard loves the circus, and of all the things he likes best, he loves cotton candy. One day, his favorite treat gives him terrible hiccups. Nothing Fearless Frederick does to scare the hiccups out of Leonard works. He walks the high wire, lays under Eloise the elephant's foot, shoots out of a canon. Nothing works, until he sees his reflection in Cookie the Clown's mirror and scares himself.
The illustrations tell this fun, humorous story in bold 1960s-era colors and graphics. Dorothy Stephenson and John E. Johnson also teamed up on The Night It Rained Toys, and Johnson illustrated many other children's books.
