Jack Prelutsky (1940 -) has written over fifty poetry collections for children, and was the Poetry Foundation's first Young People's Poet Laureate 2006-2008. In Aunt Giraffe's Green Garden contains 28 poems that carry young readers from sea to shining sea and from cold, snowy winter in Billings, Montana and Bemidji, Minnesota to sunny Amarillo, Texas and Guanajuato, Mexico.
Petra Mathers (1945 -) was the perfect illustrator for this project. She's illustrated over forty children's books and has received the Ezra Jack Keats Award, New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book of the Year (four times), Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor Award (twice), and the Society of Illustrators Silver Medal (twice).
