Before school Jeffrey looks in on Splotch and he seems fine:
"Bye, Splotch. See you after school."
By lunch, Splotch is floating in the fish bowl.

There, watching the goldfish swim around the tank, Jeffrey points to a friendly-looking fish. "There he is!" At home, he confides to his new friend. "Don't worry, Splash. She'll never catch on!"
