The Red Pyramid kick's off Rick Riordan's thrilling, high-octane Kane Chronicles series. The story revolves around two estranged siblings, Carter and Sadie Kane, who discover they share a rare, powerful magical bloodline descended directly from the ancient pharaohs Narmer and Ramses the Great. Their ordinary lives violently shatter during a visit to the British Museum, where their renowned Egyptologist father attempts a dangerous summoning ritual that inadvertently unleashes an ancient Egyptian god. With their father suddenly imprisoned, the siblings learn that the long-dormant gods of Ancient Egypt are waking across the modern world—and Set, the chaotic god of evil, has set a terrifying global scheme into motion. Plunged into a dangerous race against time, Carter and Sadie must locate the House of Life, a highly secretive order of magicians that has survived in the shadows since the fall of the Pharaohs.
Riordan brilliantly utilizes dual first-person perspectives to breathe vivid, action-packed life into complex Egyptian history and structural alchemy, establishing this volume as an essential addition to young adult libraries.
Rick Riordan (1964 – Present): Before becoming a full-time author, Riordan spent fifteen years teaching English and history in middle schools, an experience that directly shaped his rare gift for making ancient lore accessible and thrilling to modern audiences. He achieved global literary success as the creator of the Percy Jackson & The Olympians universe, which has sold more than thirty million copies in the United States alone and been translated into forty-two languages. Celebrated for his humor, diverse character representation, and fast-moving plots, Riordan’s expansion into Egyptian mythology with The Kane Chronicles further cemented his lasting legacy as a master speculative storyteller.
