A very sweet picture book about a day in the life of a well-loved cat. Le Guin and Schindler nicely capture the cat's dreams of the skies raining mice, cats scaring off the neighborhood dogs, a fountain of kibbles and cream, and napping in a catnip tree. The cat is startled from its sleep, and a bit peeved, but makes its way to its' human's comfy lap.
Ursula K. Le Guin (1929 - 2018) was a distinguished science fiction writer who also wrote children's books. She's the author of the Earthsea series, the Hainish cycle, Annals of the Western Shore, and many other books. She won many honors over the course of her life but in 2014 she received the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters.
S. D. Schindler (1952 - ) has illustrated over 50 children's books, including several others by Le Guin. The illustrations in Cat Dreams have an almost 3D quality that invites touching the pictures.
