A pretty picture book, charmingly written to give a sense of tagging along with Zoe in her blue-trimmed red and white polka dot dress and blue stockings, with beautiful watercolors of the English countryside.
Zoe waves to her Mom as she takes us on a walk through fields and forests to her favorite place.
"If you leave the warm house and follow the path,
you come to a leafy lane.
If you go along the lane a little bit further,
you come to a wooden gate.
And if you climb over the wooden gate and march up the muddy track,
you come to a shady wood."
She brings us to the ruins of an old castle tower, alone on a hilltop, where "If you stand on tiptoe, you can see the whole way that you came...and a little bit further." Until Zoe hears her name carried on the wind and returns home.
Paul and Emma Rogers are a husband and wife team who've written many children's books together. They live in France where Paul teaches English.
