The Honorable George W. Peck (1840-1916) was a Wisconsin newspaperman and politician, serving two terms as Governor of Wisconsin from 1890 to 1894. He was also a humorist remembered as well for introducing the term "Peck's bad boy" into the language to describe a very naughty boy.
The character Henry "Hennery" Peck debuted as Peck's Bad Boy and His Pa in 1873 and was so successful it was followed by six books, newspaper and magazine syndication, comic strips, and three movies, two of which featured child stars Jackie Coogan and Jackie Cooper.

Condition*: Very Good. Missing dust jacket. There's a small stain at the top of the front endpapers, close to the hinge. The front flyleaf appears to have been cut from the bottom to half-way up, close to the hinge.
