Kate DiCamillo (1964 - ) is an American author of children's fiction. Her first novel, Because of Winn-Dixie, was adapted for a 2005 film. She's since written over 25 books, including The Tale of Despereaux and Flora & Ulysses, both of which won the Newbery Medal.
