Summerland unfolds on seemingly quiet Clam Island, Washington, introducing young Ethan Feld—celebrated as the worst Little League ballplayer in history. Ethan's life completely upends when he is recruited by a community of tiny, magical beings known as ferishers who secretly manage the world's weather. Thrust into a world-saving quest, Ethan must assemble a motley company—encompassing his fierce friend Jennifer T. Rideout, a towering Sasquatch, and a cunning werefox—to challenge giants, shadow-goblins, and the toughest supernatural ball clubs across the magical realms to defeat Coyote and stop the destruction of the world.
Michael Chabon (1963 – Present) is an American novelist, screenwriter, and essayist who has fundamentally altered the intersection between high literature and genre fiction. Born in Washington, D.C., his prose are defined by nostalgia, comic book lore, and classical mythologies. Chabon won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay and has secured top speculative honors, including the Hugo, Nebula, and Locus Awards for The Yiddish Policemen's Union. Summerland was awarded the prestigious Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children's Literature.
William Joyce (1957 – Present) has written and illustrated over fifty children's books—including George Shrinks, Rolie Polie Olie, and The Leaf Men—and captured an Academy Award for his short film The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.
