A lovely and complete pop-up book for little girls who love fairies, collectors of pop-up books, and everyone who loves the work of Cicely Mary Barker.
The book contains four pop-up theaters, one for each of the four seasons - Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter.
Each pop-up theater has a description of the season, two flower fairies on the stage, and two corresponding fairy puppets.
There are eight fairy puppets in all, two for each season, and the colors of the sticks correspond to the colors of the theater stage.
English artist Cicely Mary Barker began painting flower fairies in the 1920s, a subject popularized by Arthur Conan Doyle's The Coming of The Fairies, Peter Pan, and the fairy-themed postcards made fashionable by Queen Mary. The children of relatives and her sister's kindergarten served as models for the fairies.
Condition*: Very Good. There's some separation where the spine hinges when the book opens. It's barely visible in the photo. Otherwise, the cut-outs, fold-outs, and other mechanics are intact and in working order. When paging through a moveable book, nice and easy does it.
