Christmas comes alive in The Night Before Christmas, a pop-up book designed by Robert Sabuda around the classic story written by Clement Clark Moore.

I still channel the child who willingly goes to bed on Christmas Eve so that Santa will come. Robert Sabuda's pop-up rendition of The Night Before Christmas celebrates Santa and his reindeer. I like that the contemporary design, with bold graphics, simple colors, and snow-white cut-outs, tells the story in the present. I laughed in delight when the reindeer lifted off from the middle of the book and Santa popped out of the chimney. Each section has a side foldout with smaller pop-ups, and the last page has a pull-out that flies Santa and his reindeer through the sky.
Robert Sabuda is an award-winning illustrator and paper engineer. Michigan born and raised and educated at New York's prestigious Pratt Institute, Sebuda's "The Wizard of Oz" was the first pop-up book to break into the New York Times bestseller list.

Condition*: Near Fine. The cover boards show only minor shelf wear. The cut-outs, fold-outs, pull-tabs, and other mechanics are intact and in working order. I've opened the book to photograph the pop-ups only as far as the pages will go without flattening them. When paging through a moveable book, nice and easy does it.
