Re-enter the world of modern myths, gods, and heroes in this exhilarating first volume of The Trials of Apollo series. In The Hidden Oracle, mastermind storyteller Rick Riordan delivers a witty, high-stakes adventure that flips the classical pantheon on its head. The story follows four-thousand-year-old god Apollo after he triggers the catastrophic wrath of his father, Zeus. Stripped of his divine powers, his breathtaking musical talents, and his immortality, the former Olympian is cast out of Mount Olympus. He plummets straight into a garbage dumpster in New York City, trapped inside the mundane, acne-prone body of a sixteen-year-old mortal boy named Lester Papadopoulos.

To regain his rightful place among the stars, Apollo must survive a series of dangerous trials and somehow find a way to restore five ancient Oracles that have mysteriously gone dark. Weak, disoriented, and unaccustomed to human frailties like stretching waistlines and mortal vulnerability, he must navigate the perils of the modern world while evading ancient adversaries and monsters determined to destroy him permanently. With nowhere else to turn, Apollo sets out toward the only safe haven left: Camp Half-Blood, the legendary enclave for contemporary demigods. Securely attached to the inside back cover is an unopened, secret document from Camp Half-Blood.

Brimming with Riordan's trademark pop-culture references, breakneck pacing, and laugh-out-loud dialogue, this hardcover edition makes for a great read for fantasy fans and read-aloud story for families.
