What a delightful book! It's a Storycraft book designed to give young people an authentic introduction to the cultural traditions of other children around the world.

Adding drama to the story are the vibrant watercolor illustrations that glow against fan-shaped panels on each page. Rooster and Dragon are characters from the Chinese Calendar, which is described in a note at the end of the book."
The authors provide instructions for putting on a performance and crafting a simple stage, and provide patterns for making the puppets. These aren't paper cutouts. You can use tracing paper to make the patterns.
Ed Young is a beloved children's book author and illustrator. He was awarded the Caldecott Medal for Lon Po Po, and Caldecott Honors for The Emperor and The Kite and Three Blind Mice.

Condition*: Near fine/very good. The dust jacket's matte finish paper shows scuffs from light shelf wear, and the top left corner has the beginnings of a tiny tear.
