In this first edition of The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor by Quentin Blake, Sinbad leaves Baghdad and sets sail on seven fantastic voyages to seek his fortune.
Written by John Yeoman, illustrated by Quentin Blake. 1996, stated first UK edition, first printing. First published in Great Britain by Pavilion Books Limited.
Review by Meghan Cox, Wall Street Journal:
"There is a kind of illustrated storybook that stands out less for what it is than for what it does—namely, bring restless children to a state of absolute stillness lest they miss any turn in the tale. Delightful as many picture books may be, they are usually too short to bring about such rapt suspension, and novels don't always lend themselves to reading aloud. "The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor" is a marvelous example of the type."
Quentin Blake is best known as the illustrator of numerous Roald Dahl books, and was Britain's first Children's Laureate.
Writer John Yeoman and Blake began their collaboration in 1960 and created many children's books together.
