"In Prague a long, long time ago, there lived an emperor who believed in alchemy and magic, and a rabbi who, it was said, could perform miracles.
"The emperor invited the rabbi to the palace to show him his collection of unusual objects. Among them was a strange silver measuring spoon engraved with Hebrew letters. The rabbi remembered reading in The Book of Creation how such a spoon had once been used to create a golem, a figure made out of mud and then brought to life.
"When the rabbi was about to depart, the emperor presented him with a gift. It was the mysterious silver spoon. But neither could foresee how the rabbi would us it one day."
