"This is the kitten I want to tell you about. Pretty, isn't she? Her name is Susy and she was very lonely. Why was she lonely? That is a long story and if you want to find out you will just have to listen and you will learn all about it..."

"Susy was the youngest of four little kittens. Soon her brothers and sisters went away to other houses and Susy was left all by herself she was a very lonely little kitten indeed. At first Susy was sad, but then she decided that she would try to find some friends."
Susy looked for friends in the farmyard and the nearby woods, but none of the animals wanted to be her friend, and the woods were scary! Then she met Hector, the farm dog, and she was no longer lonely.
Vaclav Jiru (1910 - ) was a Czech photographer and writer known best for his images of Prague. Jiru's life took a dramatic turn during World War II when he was arrested and sentenced to death by the Gestapo for his resistance activities, a sentence later commuted to life imprisonment. After surviving the war, he published Seste Jaro, a poignant account of his experiences. Jiru founded the influential photography magazine 'Fotografie' in 1957, serving as editor-in-chief until 1972.
