Georg Ebers (1837 - 1898) was a German Egyptologist and novelist. Ebers is remembered for acquiring the Ebers Papyrus, an ancient Egyptian medical document dating back to circa 1550 BCE, still one of the oldest and most significant medical papyri in existence. His novels were instrumental in introducing the public to Egyptology.
The gift inscription on the front fly leaf suggests the recipient was a trustee of the Inverary United Church in Ontario, Canada.

Condition: Very Good. Lacks dust jacket, as issued. Dark yellow cloth cover boards with black decoration: Shaken - cover and pages are intact but spine is separated from the text block; wear along the edges; small dampstains, front, back, and lower spine; red mark on the front, lower right; puckering of cloth on the back; light soiling front and back; bumped at the corners and head and tail of the spine. Pages are tanned, and there's a small red mark on the front fly leaf and a small open tear on pg 67, else pages are clean and complete.
