Arthur Evelyn St. John Waugh (1903 - 1966) was one of the great 20th century writers, author of novels, biographies, and travel books, as well as journalist and book reviewer. His most celebrated works include the satirical novels "Decline and Fall" and "A Handful of Dust," as well as "Brideshead Revisited" and the "Sword of Honour" trilogy. His life, marked by extensive travel, military service, and a conversion to Catholicism, provided rich material for his literary endeavors.
