About the Author
"Wagner wrote the text as well as the music of his operas. He was particularly interested in tales that deal with gods or heroes. The dark legends of the Middle Ages - black magic, villainy and bloodshed - found their way into 'Lohengrin' along with the noble story of the Holy Grail. ..."

"Ortrud steps forward. Dressed in magnificent robes and jewels, she strides haughtily to the foot of the throne and bows before the king. With this proud woman standing beside him, Telramund brings his story to an impassioned climax.

Alexandre Serebriakof (1907 - 1995) was a Russian-born French artist, specializing in watercolor and interior portraiture, who captured the elegance of high society's private spaces. After emigrating to Paris, he began a successful career as an interior decorator and watercolorist, often collaborating with his sister, Catherine. His works provide a meticulous record of the grandeur of French high society during the mid-20th century, including commissions for prominent figures such as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and the Rothschilds.
