A gorgeous book that tells a classic Navajo story.

IN THE BEGINNING,
"there was Changing Woman (Asdzaa Nadleehe) and her sons, the Twins. When the boys were twelve years old, they asked, "Who is our father?" Changing Woman told them the Sun was their father, so the Twins undertook a difficult journey to reach him.

"In the beginning, there were also monsters of the earth who ate many of the village people, the Anasazis, causing their numbers to dwindle. Since the Twins had won their father's affection and trust, they were sent back to earth to help their people."

Front Flap

"A terrible monster is plaguing the Anasazi villages of the Southwest's canyon country, so much so that the villagers are afraid to plant their crops. Who will save them from this monster's wrath?

"The Twins...respond to the villagers' cries for help and decide to seek out and destroy this monster, the Walking Giant. Armed with lightning arrows - gifts from their father - and magic feathers, they set out to defeat their enemy, and become heroes of the people..."
