Children's miniature theaters were popular in England throughout the 19th century. German and Danish paper engineers made more elaborate puppet theaters for wealthier children.
The first Theater-Bilderbuch was made in 1882 and reprinted in 1885. This German reprint is a replica of the original with four stage scenes: Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Adoration of the Magi, and Christmas Eve.

I love books and I love pop-up books and I especially love miniature books so the three in one package, wow! Gorgeous book, absolutely love it and the seller is so charming just like the name of her shop! She sent a wondrous little note on the most lovely card and the book was beautifully wrapped.
