Poems from A Boy's Will and North of Boston

American poet Robert Frost (1874-1963) is widely regarded for his realistic depictions of rural life in New England and his mastery of American colloquial speech. He published his first poem, "My Butterfly: An Elegy", in 1894 and went on to win four Pulitzer Prizes for his poetry collections. Some of his most famous poems include "The Road Not Taken", "Mending Wall", "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", and "Fire and Ice". He was also honored with the Congressional Gold Medal and named poet laureate of Vermont.

Frost's first three books, A Boy's Will (1913), North of Boston (1914), and Mountain Interval (1916), established his reputation as a master of rural and lyrical poetry. These collections contain some of his best-known poems, such as "Mowing", "Mending Wall", "After Apple-Picking", "Home Burial", "The Road Not Taken", and "Birches". Frost's early poems reflect his interest in nature, human experience, youth, and imagination. They also demonstrate his skillful use of poetic devices such as meter, rhyme, imagery, symbolism, and irony.
