Acclaimed Austrian artist Lisbeth Zwerger (1954 - ) specializes in fairy tales and classic stories. In this collection, she selected both familiar and a few lesser-known Andersen stories, such as "The Rose Tree Regiment", "The Naughty Boy", and "The Jumpers", accompanied by her signature watercolor illustrations, elegant, whimsical, and charming.
Zwerger has been inspired by the work of Arthur Rackham and other English illustrators of the 19th century. She received the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1990 for her "lasting contribution to children's literature". Some of her notable works include The Nutcracker, The Wizard of Oz, A Christmas Carol, and this collection of Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tales.
