Sorry, this item has sold.

Written and illustrated by Roger Duvoisin. Weekly Reader Children's Book Club, 1951. Alfred A. Knopf.

Petunia, a classic children's book, and a Caldecott Honor book in 1951, tells the story of a silly goose who finds a book and thinks that it makes her wise. She tries to give advice to the other animals on the farm, but only causes trouble and confusion. The book is full of humor and charm, and teaches a valuable lesson about humility and learning. The illustrations are colorful and expressive, capturing the personality of Petunia and her friends.

Roger Duvoisin (1900 - 1980) was a Swiss-born American author and illustrator who created many children's picture books. He won the 1948 Caldecott Medal for White Snow, Bright Snow, written by Alvin Tresselt, and was a runner-up for the 1968 Hans Christian Andersen Award for lifetime achievement in children's book illustration. He also collaborated with his wife Louise Fatio on the popular Happy Lion series. He was known for his humorous and expressive animal characters, such as Petunia the goose and Veronica the hippo, as well as his skillful use of color and design.
