Planet Drum by Mickey Hart is a world music album that features percussionists from various countries and cultures. The album showcases the diversity and richness of drumming traditions around the world, and blends them into a new global sound. The album won the Grammy Award for Best World Music Album in 1991, and was accompanied by a book that explores the history and significance of percussion and rhythm. Planet Drum is also the name of Hart's live ensemble that performs drum music with some of the same musicians who played on the album.
