Mexico City

"There is no time of the year when the climate is not agreeable for sightseeing and a vacation. It generally rains late in the afternoon, so that even during the rainy season there is sunshine and good weather. October is very beautiful, with the fields aglow with wildflowers."

Frances Toor's Guide to Mexico covers the history, culture, geography, and attractions of Mexico. It was first published in 1936 and has been updated and revised several times since then. The guide provides detailed information on the best places to visit, the most interesting sights to see, the most authentic experiences to have, and the most practical tips to follow. It also includes maps, illustrations, photographs, and historical anecdotes that enrich the reader's understanding of Mexico.

Frances Toor (1890 - 1956) was a remarkable woman who devoted her life to studying and promoting the culture of Mexico and its indigenous peoples. In 1922, she relocated to Mexico City and immersed herself in the artistic and intellectual circles of the Mexican capital, befriending many prominent figures such as Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. She also traveled extensively throughout the country, collecting and documenting folk art, music, dance, customs and beliefs. She founded and edited a journal called Mexican Folkways, which became a valuable source of information and inspiration for scholars and artists interested in Mexico. She also wrote several books on various aspects of Mexican culture, such as festivals, folkways, history and literature.
