Written by John Masefield. Third printing, November, 1930. The Macmillan Company, New York.

The Wanderer of Liverpool is John Masefield's first book after his appointment as Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom. The Wanderer was a ship built in 1890 by the firm of W. H. Potter & Co., of Liverpool. It was of a new design that had been used in less than a dozen ships. The book tells the story, alternately in prose and poetry, of this ship, which became something of a legend to the seafarers of her time because of her ill-fated voyages and her captivating beauty.

John Masefield (1878 - 1967) was a British poet and writer who had a brief career as a merchant seaman before turning to literature. He is best known for his poems of the sea, such as "Sea-Fever" and "Cargoes", and his long narrative poems, such as The Everlasting Mercy. He also wrote children's novels, such as The Midnight Folk and The Box of Delights.
