From the author

"For 20 years we have rehabilitated a wide variety of wild critters, from fawns, foxes, skunks, and crows to opossums, raccoons, rabbits, and owls. ...

"We have cared for many great horned owls but none of them were like Jackson, the owl in this story. His personality was unique from the very beginning and we know that we were lucky to have shared such a close bond with this wild bird. This is the true story of his life with us. Enjoy."

Gijsbert and Robbyn van Frankenhuyzen live on a 40-acre farm in Michigan, called Hazel Ridge Farm. They are both passionate about nature and wildlife, and have been involved in wildlife rehabilitation for over 20 years. Gijsbert is an artist, illustrator, teacher and author, who has painted murals and illustrated books about Michigan's natural resources. Robbyn is a writer and educator, who has collaborated with Gijsbert on several children's books based on their true stories of caring for wild animals.
