Written by Grace Maccarone. Illustrated by Christine Davenier. First edition, 2011. Feiwel & Friends, an imprint of Macmillan. New York.

Beautifully illustrated!

"In a cozy white house, in the town of Messina,
nine little girls studied dance with Miss Lina.
Christina, Edwina, Sabrina, Justina,
Katrina, Bettina, Marina, Regina,
and Nina took classes.

"And when they were done,
they went to the zoo,
where they danced just for fun.

"Then one sunny day, as class came to a close,
Miss Lina, while taking a classical prose,
announced to the girls in her elegant way,
a dancer would join them the following day.

"He's a boy," said Miss Lina. "I want you to know
He will join us for class and our end-of-year show."

They were delighted, and "pas de deux visions danced in their heads", until Tony Farina showed up for class and showed off. Meh. Then he danced off! Miss Lina sent the nine ballerinas after him, and they found him at the zoo and brought him back to class. They decided he wasn't so bad after all, for a more energetic than princely boy.
