Lucy Maud "L M" Montgomery (1874 - 1942) became a literary sensation following the publication of Anne of Green Gables, putting the location of the story, Prince Edward Island, Canada, on the literary map. We still love Anne! Montgomery went on to write eight sequels and the Emily trilogy, the two-book Pat of Silver Bush and Story Girl series, five stand alone novels, and many short stories.
